    The term zone of possible agreement ( ZOPA ), also known as zone of potential agreement or bargaining range, describes the range of options available to two parties involved in sales and negotiation, where the respective minimum targets of the parties overlap.
    A Zone of Possible Agreement, or ZOPA, is the range in any negotiation in which two or more of the parties involved can find common ground. For the parties involved in any negotiation to agree, they must find the ZOPA and then agree to a conclusion that is somewhere within it.
    Not a physical place, the zone of possible agreement or bargaining range is considered an area where two or more negotiating parties may find common ground. It is this area where parties will often compromise and strike a deal.
    Where there is a ZOPA, an agreement within the zone is rational for both sides. Outside the zone no amount of negotiation should yield an agreement.
